USA Vows to increase oil production (I wish!)

You know with gas prices the way they are I find it interesting that we all expect the middle east to increase it's production. But when is the last time you heard our own government vow to increase it's oil production? I'd love to hear congress say "We will increase our oil production to help bring down the price of oil." The oil is here, we just choose not to get it.
